No Sew Drop Cloth Curtains

No Sew Drop Cloth Curtains

These curtains were super simple to make. All you need is a drop cloth, glue gun, painters tape and paint.

Drop cloths are cheap. I got this one for around $10.

First, measure how long you want your curtains. I measured on the wall where I would be hanging my curtain rod to the floor. You will need to cut some length off unless you want 9ft. curtains. Don’t forget to account for folding down about 3-4 inches for the curtain rod hole.

I laid out my drop cloth and measure to the center. I used a real high tech system of just sliding my measuring tape down and cutting as a I went. Laziness at its finest 🙂

You should end up with 2 semi equal panels. Depends on how accurate the measuring went.

I’m so glad you are getting a close up of my carpet with dog hair. Please ignore that. You will want to fold over a small section of the cut edge.

Place some hot glue along the folded edge and then fold in again. Bam, you have your finished seam.

After you finish the seams, you will measure a fold. This will be where the curtain rod goes. I folded the raw edges under once and hot glued. You will run hot glue all the way across where the 3 is.

Now your curtains are ready to paint!

Come up with whatever design you want. I chose stripes. I laid my curtain panels by each other to make sure that they lined up correctly.

This step is crucial in my opinion. Mod podge the edges of all of the painters tape. The mod podge will seep under everywhere paint would go and dry clear. This will give you the most crisp lines possible.

Now paint them your desired color. I used latex wall paint that I had on hand. One thing I wish I would have done is paint a second coat. Some of the spots are sort of thin and you can see it when the light shines through. But now they are hanging up and that is where they will stay. More laziness at its finest 🙂

Now peel your tape off. It’s not necessary for it to be completely dry.

Hang ‘em up and enjoy!

One of these days I’m going to get around to finishing this guest bedroom…

If your guest room has been infested by bed bugs, you’re going to want to look at your options for Seattle Bed Bug Extermination as soon as you possibly can. Bed bugs multiply quickly, and if you wait to deal with this problem, the infestation is only going to get worse.

This is a really inexpensive way to add custom curtains. I bet you could even die the drop cloth if you wanted a different color!
